Technical Allocation
The 2020 technical allocation supports updating the MESA-ESS DNP3 specification and the development of a testing and certification program for MESA-ESS. While not mandatory, we ask all organizations with DNP3 interests to contribute to these funds as MESA cannot quickly update specifications or develop testing and certification tools without funding above and beyond member fees. The technical assessment is broken out separately as MESA members indicated it is easier to obtain R&D or engineering funds to cover these costs.
The MESA Board set the 2020 technical allocation at $5,000, but the amount may fluctuate each year depending on member priorities. At the end of each calendar year, the Board determines the technical allocation fee for the following year.
